Guest Post: The “New York Declaration” on forests – a smokescreen for Norway’s oil industry?
Earlier this week, REDD-Monitor wrote about a project called “Creating demand for REDD+”. The three-year project is funded to the tune of US$5 million by Norway and is run by two Washington-based think tanks, the Center for Global Development and Climate Advisers.

“Deforestation is inevitable,” Hadi Daryanto, secretary-general of Indonesia’s Forestry Ministry, said in August 2014. He told the Jakarta Post that the government would go ahead with its plans to clear 14 million hectares of “degraded” forest.

Late in 2013, the Guyana Forestry Commission released a series of annual reports from 2005 to 2012. The oldest of these reports was already eight years old.
