Norway pays Brazil US$1 billion. But what for, exactly?
In 2008, Norway agreed to pay US$1 billion to Brazil’s Amazon Fund, if Brazil reduced deforestation in the Amazon. Norway has so far handed over US$900 million and will pay the final US$100 million before the end of this year.

By Chris Lang Earlier this month, the director of a carbon credit company was disqualified as a director by the High Court for 15 years. Young Erumuse was the director of the London Carbon Credit Company Limited, a company that sold carbon credits to retail investors.
Dennis Melka: Exporting deforestation from Sarawak to Peru
Dennis Melka’s company United Cacao Limited is responsible for “illegally clearing swathes of rainforest in the Peruvian Amazon”, the Guardian reports.
