Voting open for UN-REDD civil society observer

The UN-REDD Programme is currently in the process of appointing four observers from Civil Society Organisations to the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board. The CSO representatives will consist of one each from Africa, Asia‐Pacific, Latin America‐Caribbean and North America/Europe.

More than 100 nominations were submitted during a self-selection process that was coordinated by the Bank Information Center (BIC). That process ended on 3 August 2012 and Civil Society Organisations can now vote until 31 August 2012 for their preferred representatives to be selected for the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board.

More details about the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board, including current members (as of January 2012) are available on the UN-REDD website.

The UN-REDD Programme is seeking four CSO Representatives for its Policy Board

Between 10-31 August, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) can vote on eligible nominees that have been identified through a self-selection process to serve as CSO representatives to the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board.

The three-week nomination period for the self-selection process ended on 3 August, 2012 and more than 100 nominations were submitted from across Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean. The UN-REDD Programme is seeking to identify four CSO representatives to its Policy Board: one CSO from each of the Programme’s three regions and one CSO from a developed country.

During the voting period, CSOs will have the opportunity to cast votes for the nominees that they feel will best represent their interests on the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board. Each CSO can vote for one representative for each of the four regions. The election will conclude in time for the selected CSO representatives to travel to Brazzaville, Republic of Congo for the ninth meeting of the UN-REDD Programme Policy Board on 23-27 October 2012.

The Bank Information Center is conducting the self-selection process at the invitation of the UN-REDD Programme, following consultations with the Independent Advisory Group on Forests, Rights, and Climate Change.

VOTEZ POUR LES REPRÉSENTANTS DE LA SOCIÉTÉ CIVILE AU CONSEIL D’ORIENTATION DU PROGRAMME ONU-REDD

Le Programme ONU-REDD recherche quatre représentants d’OSC pour son Conseil d’orientation

Entre 10-31 août, les organisations de société civile (OSC) peuvent voter pour les candidats éligibles qui ont été identifiés dans un processus d’auto-sélection pour servir en tant que représentants des OSC au Conseil d’orientation du Programme ONU-REDD.

La période de nomination de trois semaines pour le processus d’auto-sélection s’est terminée le 3 août 2012, et plus de 100 candidatures ont été soumises de partout en Afrique, en Asie-Pacifique et en Amérique latine et les Caraïbes. Le Programme ONU-REDD vise à identifier quatre représentants des OSC à son Conseil d’orientation: une OSC de chacune des trois régions du Programme et un OSC d’un pays développé.

Au cours de la période de vote, les OSC auront la possibilité de voter pour les candidats qui se sentent vont mieux représenter leurs intérêts au sein du Conseil d’orientation du Programme ONU-REDD. Chaque OSC peut voter pour un représentant pour chacune des quatre régions. L’élection se terminera à temps pour les représentants des OSC sélectionnées pour se rendre à Brazzaville, République du Congo pour la neuvième réunion du conseil d’orientation du Programme ONU-REDD les 23-27 octobre 2012.

Le Bank Information Center mène le processus d’auto-sélection à l’invitation du Programme ONU-REDD après concertation avec le Groupe consultatif indépendant sur les forêts, les droits, et le changement climatique.

VOTACION PARA REPRESENTANTES DE LA SOCIEDAD CIVIL PARA LA JUNTA NORMATIVA DEL PROGRAMA ONU-REDD

El Programa ONU-REDD esta buscando cuatro representantes para su Junta Normativa.

Entre el 10 y 31 de agosto, Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil (OSC) van a poder votar por las organizaciones elegibles identificadas a través de un proceso de auto-selección para que puedan servir como representantes en la Junta Normativa.

El periodo de tres semanas de nominaciones como candidatos cerro el 3 de agosto de 2012 donde mas de 100 nominaciones fueron enviados de África, Asia-Pacifico, América Latina y el Caribe. El Programa ONU-REDD esta buscando identificar cuatro representantes para la Junta Normativa, uno por cada una de las regiones del Programa, y un OSC de un país desarrollado.

Durante el periodo de votación, las OSC tendrán la oportunidad de elegir la OSC que se crea ser más capaz para representar sus intereses en la Junta Normativa. Se puede votar para una OSC en cada región. Las elecciones terminaran en tiempo para las organizaciones seleccionadas puedan participar en la próxima reunión de la Junta Normativa, que seria en Brazzaville, la Republica del Congo, entre el 23-17 de octubre de 2012.

El Centro de Información Bancaria (BIC) esta coordinando el proceso de auto-selección y votación respondiendo a la invitación del Programa ONU-REDD después de las consultas realizadas con el Grupo Asesor Independiente sobre Bosques, Derechos y Cambio Climático.
