On 15 March 2017, REDD-Monitor wrote a post about the Juma Sustainable Development Reserve, a REDD project in Brazil. The post was based on a documentary by Marie-Martine Buckens, broadcast in February 2017 on Belgian TV.
Conservation violence: More evictions of the Sengwer in the Embobut Forest, Kenya
On 2 April 2017, Kenya Forest Service guards violently attacked Elias Kimaiyo, a Sengwer community leader. The Forest Guards were burning houses belonging to the Sengwer. Kimaiyo was taking photographs.
Lukasz Matula, director of recovery room Bradlodge Limited, banned for 15 years
Bradlodge Limited was a recovery room scam. Back in 2014, the company’s conmen rang up people who had already been conned into buying worthless carbon credits as investments. Bradlodge told them they could sell their carbon credits. For an advanced fee, of course.
