At the latest round of UN climate negotiations, currently taking place in Bonn, Germany, a group of NGOs is circulating a statement that argues that REDD is “unlikely to be effective while strong market incentives for deforestation remain unaddressed” and that the UNFCCC is the appropriate body to address the international drivers of deforestation.
