Indonesia’s REDD+ Agency “will not be able to take any actions” says Ministry of Forestry Secretary General
On 2 September 2013, Indonesia established its REDD+ Agency. As with just about everything else to with REDD in Indonesia (with the exception of the dozens of REDD workshops that have taken place in Jakarta’s luxury hotels), the process of setting up the REDD+ Agency was delayed.

MIFEE’s massive seizure of indigenous lands is causing starvation and poverty in Papua
The Merauke Integrated Food and Energy Estate (MIFEE) industrial plantations project is having serious impacts on people and forests in Papua province, Indonesia. Forest Peoples Programme’s Sophie Chao visited the project area earlier this year and reports that “disease and undernourishment are rampant”.
Friends of the Earth calls for an open review of the Kalimantan Forest Carbon Partnership
Friends of the Earth Australia has written to the Australian Government calling for “an open review of its failed experiment in climate aid in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia”. The Australian-funded Kalimantan Forest Carbon Partnership was quietly shelved earlier this year.
