Comments on the Guyana Forestry Commission’s Annual Reports, 2005-2012

In recent months, the Guyana Forestry Commission has released a series of annual reports, dating from 2005 to 2012. Janette Bulkan and John Palmer wrote a series of five articles for the Stabroek News commenting on the annual reports and recommending that the National Assembly should hold public hearings on the GFC.

Three weeks ago, REDD-Monitor wrote about Global Forest Watch, an online forest monitoring system run by World Resources Institute and more than 40 partners. The tool provides a huge amount of information about the world’s forests, including deforestation, protected areas, biodiversity hotspots, mining, logging, palm oil and wood-fibre plantations.
