The Juma Sustainable Development Reserve, Brazil: “A lot of promises that aren’t being kept”

The Juma Sustainable Development Reserve covers an area of 589,612 hectares in the municipality of Novo Aripuanã, in the state of Amazonas, Brazil. On its website, the project developer Fundação Amazonas Sustentável states that, “FAS is committed to protect forests and improving the life quality of people that live there”.

In September 2016, Jonah Busch of the Center for Global Development wrote a blog post about the aviation industry’s crazy proposals to “address” climate change by offsetting its ever increasing emissions. Busch is in favour of using REDD credits to offset pollution from flying.

California’s Environmental Justice Advisory Committee opposes carbon trading

In August 2016, California passed a new Senate Bill: SB 32. It’s named after California’s Global Warming Solutions Act (or AB 32). AB 32 required California to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.
